4 Healthy, Quick and Easy Breakfast Recipes
| By Jacob Inman | Category: Inspiration and WellnessBreakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet very few of us can honestly say we eat a healthy breakfast each and every day. Breakfast provides long-lasting energy, helps reduce overeating, and keeps the metabolism firing for the entire day. Trying to lose weight? A healthy breakfast is an essential part of any weight loss plan.
So why do we fail so miserably in our quest to get the energy we need to start the day? Two excuses are often used as to why we are unable or unwilling to eat a healthy breakfast. First, we’re in a hurry to get to work or school and we lack the time to prepare a healthy breakfast. Second, anything that’s easily and quickly prepared either doesn’t satisfy our taste buds or isn’t all that good for us (think Grape Nuts and Toaster Strudels).
Well, it’s time to do away with the excuses and search out healthy and delicious breakfast recipes that are easy to prepare. To get you started, here are four nutritious breakfast ideas that can be prepared in less than two minutes. How’s that for easy?
Super Power Protein Shake
Here’s a power-packed shake that you can quickly make in the blender and drink on your way to work. With protein, antioxidants, omega-3′s and essential minerals, you’ll be ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
1 scoop vanilla whey protein isolate powder (I like NOW Foods brand)
12 oz. skim milk
¼ cup of frozen blueberries, strawberries, or peaches
1 Tbsp. cold-pressed flaxseed oil
200 mg magnesium citrate powder (optional)
Toss all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. For variety, replace the frozen fruit and flaxseed oil with half a banana and 2 Tbsp. of natural peanut butter.
What it provides: 375 calories, 15g fat, 24g carbs, and 37g protein
Heart-Healthy Oatmeal
A warm and hearty breakfast to give you long-lasting energy, this delicious oatmeal takes only minutes to prepare.
½ cup oats (not quick 1-minute oats, they get mushy)
1 cup water
handful of shelled walnuts, chopped
handful of raisins
2 tsp. brown sugar or maple syrup
dash of cinnamon
dash of salt
splash of milk (if desired)
Combine oats and water in a microwave-safe bowl and nuke on high for 1 ½ to 2 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and enjoy!
What it provides: 386 calories, 19g fat, 55g carbs, and 10g protein
High Energy Mini-Egg Omelettes
Are you following a low-carb lifestyle such as the Atkins or Anabolic Diet? Here’s a great recipe that you can make ahead of time which is low in carbs and high in protein. This will keep you full until lunchtime!
12 eggs, beaten
12 slices turkey bacon, cooked and diced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup cooked spinach, drained
Spray a 12 count muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray. Evenly distribute the turkey bacon and spinach into each muffin cup. Evenly pour the egg mixture into the each cup and top with the shredded cheese. Bake at 300 degrees until eggs are firm and lightly browned on top. Store in the fridge and eat two muffins per day…breakfast for the entire week!
What it provides (2 muffins): 322 calories, 22g fat, 5g carbs, and 24g protein
Easy English Muffin and Yogurt
Here’s a super-simple breakfast that tastes great and provides a quick energy boost to start your busy day.
1 whole wheat English muffin (100% whole wheat)
2 Tbsp. natural peanut butter (highly recommend Naturally More)
1 serving Activa yogurt
Lightly toast the English muffin, slather with peanut butter and eat. Enjoy the yogurt as dessert.
What it provides: 410 calories, 14g fat, 52g carbs, and 21g protein

Thanks for the quick tips on b-fast. I may try the massive 12 egg onslaught next week. I like the fact that it can make all those quick to go samiches. Popeye would be proud too with that spinach.
I have been eating oatmeal as my everyday breakfast and I’m cloyed by its taste. I like the recipe you have provided here regarding oatmeal. At least I can have flavorful variations.
Those breakfasts are huge! It’s taken me a long time to enjoy eating breakfast. When I weighed 305 pounds my breakfasts were brownies and cookies. (Seriously.) But as I lost all my weight I had a hard time finding myself ready to eat in the morning.
Now, after maintaining my loss for all these years, I eat breakfast a little bit later. Most often times it’s oatmeal or a whole wheat english muffin! Just like you recommend.
Love this site – you’ve got lots of great information here.
@ Trey – Give it a try…I think you’ll like it a lot.
@ Walter – Oatmeal can get quite boring. I think you’ll find that this recipe makes it very enjoyable to eat every day.
@ Diane – I agree, there are some calories in these recipes that those looking to lose alot of weight may not be interested in. They’re probably better for those who are quite active and need that energy boost early in the day.
I’m glad you like the site! For those looking to lose weight, I’ll refer you to Diane’s site at Fit to the Finish. It looks like she has some great recipes over there that may interest you.
great recipes .. i usually eat cornflakes for my breakfast but i can experiment with these, can wait..
Great recipes! Another good warm breakfast idea is pancakes with fresh fruit…when i have the time i make them from scratch but otherwise i use organic batter blaster from a spray bottle. It’s the only way i can get my kids to eat fruit and they love helping to make the pancakes.
It’s nice to have options outside of the typical cereal and banana. And your recipes are a great way to be healthy as well. Thanks.
